About
Clear guidance for your first cruise
Cruise Beginner Guide is a practical resource built to help first-time and returning cruisers make more confident vacation decisions about cruise lines, cabins, costs, and embarkation—without the overwhelm. Many of these guides are shaped by real cruise experiences and common questions we wish we had understood earlier ourselves.

Our story
Why we built this site
Planning your first cruise comes with a surprising number of decisions—often before you even book. We created Cruise Beginner Guide after running into many of the same questions, surprises, and confusing policies ourselves while cruising over the years.
Many of these guides are built around the things we genuinely wish we understood earlier: onboard costs, cabin selection, embarkation procedures, drink packages, casino systems, and how different cruise lines can feel completely different once you are actually onboard.
Everything here is focused on helping travelers understand what matters most, what is not worth overthinking, and how to compare cruise options without getting lost in fine print. Cruise lines continue changing policies, pricing structures, and onboard procedures, so we keep updating the site as we learn new information and see new questions come up from travelers.

How we help
Practical, not promotional
We focus on the decisions that affect your first cruise the most—then explain them in plain English so you can book with confidence.
Clear cruise line comparisons
Cabin selection made simple
Realistic cost breakdowns
Embarkation basics and checklists
Our approach
Confidence comes from clarity
Cruise Beginner Guide was created after seeing how often cruisers get stuck on the same questions.
Instead of one-size-fits-all advice, we break each topic into beginner-friendly choices, tradeoffs, and practical rules of thumb. The goal is simple: help you feel prepared before you step on the ship.
Cruising changes constantly. Policies, pricing structures, drink packages, casino programs, embarkation procedures, and onboard technology continue evolving across cruise lines and ships. As we continue cruising and learning ourselves, we keep updating these guides to reflect the questions, surprises, and real-world situations travelers are running into right now.
If you spot something outdated, unclear, or missing, we genuinely want to hear from you.
“A great first cruise isn’t about knowing everything—it’s about knowing the few things that matter most.”
Kevin & Amy (Your Guides)
As the site grows, we’ll keep updating guides to reflect common questions, new policies, and what travelers are seeing right now. If you spot something outdated or unclear, we’d love to hear from you.
